CBD or Cannabidiol is a naturally occuring compound found in a Cannabis or Hemp plant. Though Cannabis and Hemp are biologically related and may appear similar at first glance, Hemp plants contain a much higher amount of CBD than a Cannabis plant. A Cannabis plant will also typically contain high amounts of THC which is a psychoactive compound.
CBD itself is not psychoactive. It does not change a person’s state of mind when they use it. However, it may produce significant changes in the body, and it is showing some significant medical benefits.
Both CBD and THC have significant therapeutic attributes. But unlike THC, CBD does not make a person feel “stoned” or intoxicated. That’s because CBD and THC act in different ways on different receptors in the brain and body.
The fact that CBD is therapeutically potent as well as non-intoxicating, easy to take in its different forms, makes it very appealing to newcomers who have never given it try.
